Without breaking form or poise

Writer: Angie NeverAngie Never

Why Tribal Bellydance matters to me: Yesterday in class, a dancer was having trouble with her balance. Because of her health concerns, a fall could be very hazardous, so it’s really important for her to stay upright. At one point, in quartet formation, a turn we were practicing almost knocked her over, and the dancer beside her reached out to stabilize her without breaking form or poise, and then the dance went on. My heart filled up my whole chest, like when the Grinch’s heart finally breaks out of that little box. We have to do a lot of steps to figure it out, but the center of all this is how we learn to stand beside each other, as a Tribe.

The office team: "And then we'll give it to Angie, and she'll work her magic on it."
