Join Beat Science for six weeks of classes in November & December to learn how to develop Maqsoum solos. You'll learn how to think in 4, 8, and 16-beat phrases, and practice including triplet, left hand start, pops, and rolls. This is a fun challenge to take your solos farther. Class will also include drum tone development, timing counts, and solo idea practice. Bring an Egyptian tabla, darbuka, or doumbek. You may also want a notebook, pen, and music stand. Handouts with be provided. Instructor Zach Beery is a musician who has devoted 18 years to the study, performance, and composition of bellydance music on darbuka, frame drum, and Turkish saz. Compiling working with dancers, audience feedback from hundreds of shows, and student input from weekly classes, Zach has unique insight into what works from both a performance and an instructional perspective. As a teacher, he is committed to making difficult concepts seem easy and offering music as a way to have fun. Choose to register for the whole month for a discount or pick classes individually.
