Slice Into Spring: Folkloric Flair Sword Dance with Melody Bustillos

Spring is on its way!  At Sacred Shimmy Studio Online, we're celebrating by pulling out our swords and spending some time with masters of this favorite prop.  Starting with the Spring Equinox, join us for four workshops from four different movement perspectives to give you something new to work on with your trusty blade this year.

In this workshop, Melody Bustillos will guide you into connecting to the roots of old folkloric style sword dance. Learn to glide through shape shifting, various balance points, hand/sword manipulation, creative steps, and smooth moving transitions. You will learn stabilization techniques, inertia breaks, level changes, traditional floorwork and recovery. We will put all the elements together a progressive fun choreography. This presentation is a beneficial for all levels. There is something for everyone. Bring a single sword and knee pads!

This class will be held via Zoom meeting.  Participants will receive a link to the class in an email confirming registration.  You will also receive a link to a recording of the class that you can download to use at another time. The workshop cost is $30.
