About the Event
Let's spend January learning about folkloric dance! The Focus on Folklore series will offer a return to the roots of bellydance, investigating traditional dances from Persia, Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia, and the Magreb. Join us to connect modern practices to a rich history.
Faten, the founder of Al-Massraweya, is a leader in Folkloric Egyptian style. Faten is a Master Instructor who has taught many of the instructors who are teaching today. She has 50 years of experience in this the Egyptian Folkloric dance style. She formed an elite private troupe in 1976 and travelled to Jordan, Qatar, Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and the United States. Faten is one of the first to teach and demonstrate the influence of folkloric dance and the creator of the Al-Massraweya Intensive Certification.
In this workshop, Faten will cover some Egyptian folklore and the ways it influences current styles.
